Cardiology

The Department of Cardiology provides comprehensive care for diseases of the heart and blood vessels. Our specialised services cover a wide range of conditions, including Coronary Artery Disease, Heart Attack (Myocardial Infarction), Heart Failure, Arrhythmias, Valvular Heart Disease, Hypertension, Congenital Heart Defects and Cardiomyopathies.

Backed by a Hi-tech Cath Lab, 24×7 emergency cardiac care, and advanced cardiac imaging and physiology assessment technologies such as OCT, IVUS and FFR, we offer everything from preventive screening to advanced interventional procedures under one roof.

Procedure Details:

  • Coronary Angiography: A diagnostic procedure that uses contrast dye and X-ray imaging to visualise blockages in the coronary arteries supplying the heart.
  • Angioplasty & Stenting (PTCA): A minimally invasive procedure to open blocked or narrowed coronary arteries using a balloon catheter, followed by placement of a stent to restore blood flow.
  • OCT — Optical Coherence Tomography: An advanced intravascular imaging technique that provides high-resolution images from inside the coronary arteries, helping doctors assess plaque, blockages and stent placement with greater precision.
  • IVUS — Intravascular Ultrasound: A specialised imaging procedure that uses ultrasound from within the blood vessel to evaluate artery size, plaque burden and stent expansion during complex coronary interventions.
  • FFR — Fractional Flow Reserve: A pressure-based assessment used during angiography to determine whether a coronary artery narrowing is significantly affecting blood flow and whether stenting is required.
  • Pacemaker Implantation: Surgical placement of a small device that regulates abnormally slow heart rhythms and ensures a steady heartbeat.
  • ICD & CRT Device Implantation: Implantation of Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators and Cardiac Resynchronisation Therapy devices for patients with life-threatening arrhythmias and advanced heart failure.
  • 2D Echocardiography: An ultrasound-based examination that assesses the structure, pumping function and valves of the heart in real time.
  • Stress Test (TMT): A treadmill-based test that evaluates how the heart performs under physical exertion, helping detect underlying coronary disease.
  • Holter Monitoring: Continuous 24 to 48-hour ECG recording that captures intermittent rhythm disturbances missed during a routine ECG.
  • Electrocardiogram (ECG): A quick, painless test that records the electrical activity of the heart to identify rhythm abnormalities and signs of cardiac stress.

The Cardiology Department is committed to delivering timely, evidence-based and compassionate care, combining advanced technology with a multidisciplinary team approach to safeguard every patient’s heart health.
